I had the chance to be mentoring a module involving some experimental calligraphy as a part of the LetterStudio unit at the Royal Academy of Arts (KABK) in The Hague. Together with Peter Verheul and Frank Blokland, we offer students different modules on different letter-related topics from digitizing to drawing logos, type design, and calligraphy.
After introducing my experimental-calligraphy students to some calligraphic techniques, I asked them to illustrate a tree calligraphically. Here are some of their results.
I encourage you to make your own tree and submit it to my blog onomatypea.tumblr.com. (Click the menu icon in the left upward cover, and choose “Submit”)
